Book Crossing!!

Just found a really really cool website ...

http://www.bookcrossing.com/home

Bookcrossing.com is a site which promotes letting books run free ....

Considering that I am a known bibliophile and also a horrible hoarder of all things written I think this is really, really cool.

I am still learning about how this works but basically you register a book by its ISBN number get a bookcrossing ID ... write it on a label or a printout you can use and when it is ready let it run free into the world.

Going to a meetup.com Meet-Up meeting about BookCrossing on Tuesday at 7 pm at the Starbucks on 29th and Park .... So I will certainly learn more about it there....

Really cool idea though to see where a book might go on its travels and see if it can be more then a dust collector on your shelf ....

It also can work of a database of your books. There are like 230,000 users and 993,000+ books registered so far all around the world ...

If you are interested in this my ID is rurugby on the site and certainly become my friend and see if there are any books you are interested in.

I really love the idea of just leaving a book on the subway or in the park too ... Have to worry about the bizarre police though that do not like things left anywhere ...

The wound is healing well... And I actually temped all week for 40 hours this week ... the $600 pre-tax wont help my debt too much but should stem the bleeding a bit (much more dangerous wound then the 5 stitches on my wrist) ...

Here is a hot link to Book Crossing !!!! ....

Enjoy the Spring and we should go to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and look at flowers ... At the parents place near Princeton, NJ this weekend which is overrun with books to use my new playful site on.

Wow this post is wicked long.

Thanks for the good words on my injury too.

And finally if you haven't already change your viewing style to blog mode so you can look at people's earlier posts ...

Your Tax Dollars at Work

Read in Wonkette yesterday that Uncle Sam has found yet another "war" to fight ... this time on Porn ...
Wonkette

The amount of money our current administration wastes on bizarre morality is simply frightening ... from being "tough on crime" with the war on drugs ... or stopping those "welfare queens" by cutting off welfare while millions are without any health coverage and liable for thousands of dollars in debt ...

Here is the story in the Baltimore Sun ...

And Wonkette has a glorious shot of
John Ashcroft's face made entirely of porn images too ....
This is something most deserving for quite possibly the worst attorney-general in history.

Yay Politics!

Wrist/Injury ...OUCH!!!!

Hey everyone.

I thank you all for your support with my injury and if you are OK seeing stiches I have a link with pictures ....

Dont worry there are of stitches not the open wound ....

Wrist/Arm Injury pictures

Luckily my arm is feeling much better and stronger now (week and half will do that) .. still a little red (doctor said might have been allergic to the stitches) ...

Also saw Secret Window with Johnny Depp tonight which I HATED (0 Stars) .. I can't remember being this bored at a movie in a while .. It was under 90 minutes but felt more like 3 hours plus .... I think watching Godfather I and II would have seemed shorter ... In short DONT see it ... even my sweetie Ninanna who is a huge Stephen King fan was disappointed by it.

See Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind instead, because if you haven't yet shame on you ... Also for you NYCers out there see Bridge and Tunnel with Sarah Jones down at 45 Bleecker and see the really fun doubleheader at the UCB Theatre of Julie Spero's "Who's Your Daddy" and "Gutenberg! The Musical" my vote for best use of trucker hats ever (will be a lot, probably already is, in the garbage throughout hipsterville) Who's/Gutenberg is being shown at UCB Theatre on Wednesdays at 8 pm for the low low price of $5

So lets hope the cold has disappeared and Happy Easter and Passover y'all .. I have to go out and drink with you SGNYers sometime soon (this weekend seeing the parents in NJ) ....
